1. Absolute Phrase

Absolute phrases adalah frasa yang memodifikasi klausa independen sepenuhnya (kalimat lengkap); bukan hanya satu kata.

Ini umumnya menggabungkan kata benda dan participle, sehingga bisa sesingkat dua kata, atau kadang-kadang memiliki modifikator dan objek lain juga.

Absolute phrases are not full sentences on their own, but they can add very important details to sentences that make them more informative or relevant.

Contoh Absolute Phrase

Tidak seperti pengubah normal yang hanya memodifikasi kata dalam kalimat, Absolute phrases mengubah seluruh kalimat.

2. Appositive Phrase

Apakah yang dimaksud dengan Appositive Phrase?

Appositive adalah kata benda atau frase kata benda  (appositive phrase) yang memberi nama lain untuk kata benda tepat di sebelahnya. Ini menambahkan kata-kata deskriptif tentang hal tertentu (kata benda), yang membantu membuat kalimat lebih rinci; atau, menambahkan informasi penting untuk membuat makna kalimatnya jelas.

Contoh Appositive Phrase

Appositive noun atau Apposite phrases dapat muncul sebelum atau sesudah kata benda utama. Bisa di awal, tengah, atau akhir kalimat, asalkan tepat di sebelah kata benda yang dideskripsikan.

3. Gerund Phrase

4. Infinitive Phrase

5. Noun Phrase

A noun phrase adalah sekelompok kata yang bekerja bersama untuk memberi nama dan menggambarkan seseorang, tempat, benda, atau ide. Ketika kita melihat struktur tulisan, kita memperlakukan noun phrase dengan cara yang sama kita memperlakukan kata benda umum.

Like all nouns, a noun phrase can be a subject, object, or complement.

Contoh Noun Phrases

Contoh:

• The quick, brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
  This noun phrase is the subject of the sentence. In other words, this sentence is about ‘the quick, brown fox.’ But, instead of just saying ‘fox,’ the rest of the noun phrase works to describe it.
• I think there’s a good pop song in pretty much anything -Kesha, pop singer.
  Here, the four words ‘a good pop song’ work together as a noun phrase. Instead of just saying “song,” Kesha sees “a good pop song” in anything. The phrase acts as a complement to the subject pronoun ‘there’. It is a compliment because it is giving more information about the subject.
• The end of the season is hard for some athletes.
  The noun phrase is acting as the subject of this example. The five words in the noun phrase work together to name a period of time that is hard for athletes.

6. Participial Phrase

Apa yang dimaksud dengan Participial Phrase?

A participial phrase adalah frasa yang terlihat seperti kata kerja, tetapi sebenarnya berfungsi sebagai kata sifat; itu memodifikasi kata benda dalam kalimat yang sama. They’re often used in pieces that need to tell readers a lot in a few words, like newspaper articles or even fiction books.

The participial phrase doesn’t describe an action that’s happening currently, but it does help us understand why Kelly always has soft hair.
• The trash can sat in the corner, brimming with garbage.
  Here, the phrase “brimming with garbage” tells us about the trash can, a noun. “Brimming” is a verb, but the entire phrase acts as an adjective again. That makes “brimming with garbage” another participial phrase!

Preposisi adalah kata yang menghubungkan dua frase atau ide dalam satu kalimat. Preposisi digunakan untuk menentukan kapan, di mana, bagaimana, dan mengapa. Prepositional Phrase sederhana mencakup preposisi dan objeknya, yang bisa berupa satu kata atau sekelompok kata yang mengungkapkan ide tunggal.
