Penjelasan dan Penggunaan “Let/ Let’s” yang tepat dalam Bahasa Inggris

Nah… dalam bacaan ini saya akan coba memberikan kalian informasi tentang:

“Let” merupakan kata kerja (verb) dan juga termasuk kata kerja causatives, kata “Let” dapat digunakan untuk mengekspresikan saran, perintah, dan pertolongan.

Kalian tidak dapat membentuk pola sendiri dengan menggunakan “Let”.
Pahami struktur dalam kalimat dengan kata “Let” untuk bentuk imperative.

Let + object + main verb

“Let me” digunakan untuk menginstruksikan satu orang.

Q: What time do you want to have lunch?
A: Let me think, Maybe later because I haven’t been hungry yet.

• Untuk situasi formal = Let us
• Untuk situasi informal = Let’s

Digunakan untuk membuat saran atau memberi perintah kepada sekelompok orang termasuk pengajak/ diri sendiri. Karena “us” sama dengan “we” yang berarti “kita” Maksud nya adalah si pembicara masuk dalam lingkaran tersebut.

Contoh Formal:

• Let us go. (mari kita pergi)
• Let us buy some food. (mari kita beli beberapa makanan)

• Let’s have a meal. (ayo kita cari makan)
• Let’s keep moving on. (ayo kita tetap maju)

Contoh:

• Let’s have a meal, shall we?
• Let’s go for a walk, shall we?

Ada dua bentuk kalimat negative dengan kata “Let’s”, yaitu Let us not (Let’s not) dan do not let us (don’t let’s).

• Let us not throw any rubbish here.
  (Jangan biarkan kami membuang sampah di sini)
• Let’s not get angry.
  (Jangan biarkan kami marah)
• Do not let us give up.
  (Jangan biarkan kami menyerah)
• Don’t let’s do a bad thing.
  (Jangan biarkan kami melakukan hal yang buruk)
